Maintenance Manager

As a member of the site leadership team, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the Maintenance Department for the site in providing vision and direction for safe equipment availability and improvements with the maintenance department. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner:

Job Duties

  • Foster core values of growing people, safety, partnerships, margins, reserves and production as stated as part of our Four Keys.

  • Senior Management departmental skills (communication, writing, computer usage, financial budgeting and cost analysis, leadership and mentoring).

  • Budgeting, cost analysis, financial review for fiscal and long-term planning of department needs for all responsible areas and cost centers. 

  • Manage and operate the maintenance department, along with personnel to assure production goals are met and all safety, compliance and environmental standards are upheld

  • Assess the performance across all operating crews to identify, improve and implement system enhancements in order to operate safely, maintain quality, meet and or exceed site requirements, and maintain environmental compliance

  • Continuous improvement through challenging the current state of operations for business, machinery, or plant improvement

  • Document, propose, and execute improvement suggestions where a need or benefit to the equipment, plant, personnel or production is seen.

  • Overseeing postmortem activities to ensure the process is continually improving

  • Completing Root Cause Analysis as needed to improve business practices and/or safety culture

  • Address issues through coaching and mentoring where improvements are required and hold supervisors and personnel accountable in order to comply with all standards

  • Capture best practices and incorporate them into the supervisor’s and personnel work practices

  • Provide information, goals, and input for the improvement and development of short and long term maintenance and production planning and budgeting activities

  • Assure that proper preventive, proactive, and planned maintenance planning is managed to assure plant is efficient and properly utilized

  • Actively monitor process parameters and identify signals and trends in safety, environment, product quality and production

  • Manage and investigate root cause analysis of issues and take appropriate action to correct the main source of the problem.   Ensure corrective actions were successful and then develop measurements, inspections, and monitoring programs to safeguard against reoccurrences

  • Create, manage and uphold maintenance plans that best utilize all assets in order to meet operations, maintenance, safety and environmental requirements

  • Initiate and participate with the maintenance team focused on improving crushing circuit, costs and utilization, and maintenance goals

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production

  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in managing or senior supervising a maintenance department preferred

  • Strong knowledge of equipment maintenance, crushing process, and Reliability Centered Maintenance

  • Excellent organization and problem solving ability

  • Demonstrates a serious commitment to accuracy, quality and detail while meeting goals or deadlines

  • Demonstrates strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with the senior management staff as a team player

  • Experience in budget, forecast and costing

  • Communicates effectively in both written and verbal formats

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Windows

  • Secondary education (engineering) is not necessary but preferred
