Operations Superintendent - Hydrometallurgy

The Operations Superintendent will be responsible for managing the safe operations of a section of the hydrometallurgical facility, with responsibility for all operational KPI’s including production, efficiency, availability, utilization, and budget. Effectively coordinate production across 4 crews running 24 hours a day; 7 days a week. Ensure compliance with all company, local, state, and federal safety, and quality regulations.

Primary Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):

  • Create a positive, respectful atmosphere among crews, fostering a team environment and open communication

  • Implement production plans according to approved schedule

  • Manage and coordinate activities between maintenance and production to maximize plant availability

  • Provide support and resources for supervisors and operators, including ongoing training, coaching and goals

  • Help generate and provide input for area budget, track costs and maintain budget, and adjust going forward

  • Inspect and evaluate work progress, identify problems, and direct remedial action

  • Prioritize staff, materials, and equipment to accomplish monthly and quarterly goals.

  • Develop and review process procedures

  • Ensure all safety and operations procedures and documentation are properly performed including LOTO, confined space, and permit to work

  • Ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and cleanly work areas are maintained

  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) preferred

  • 5+ Years experience in an industrial facility with direct and indirect supervision

  • Previous experience in leaching, solvent extraction or crystallization processes preferred

  • Budget creation and management experience

  • Able to offer technical expertise and guidance

  • Skilled in building strong rapport with department team members and external departments

  • Valid State issued Drivers License or Government issued I.D

  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques

  • Experience with routine maintenance operations

  • Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, methods, process, and procedures

  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always

  • Skilled in following safety and environmental practices and recognizing hazards

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Skilled in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Able to work well under pressure

  • Strong attention to detail with focus on continuous improvement
