Operations Superintendent

The Operations Superintendent reports to the Processing Manager, and the primary role is to manage the Mill, Refinery and Water Treatment Operations within the Processing Operations Department.

Duties include:

  • Ensure proper resourcing in your team for coverage from leadership positions to on the floor positions.

  • Challenge ourselves and the plant to exceed historical limitations.

  • Challenge those participating in unproductive activities irrespective of which team they belong to.

  • Operate and maintain the plant like we own it.

  • Establish and maintain budgets and control costs. Prepare reports, analyze data, make recommendations, and solve maintenance related problems.

  • Review mill and water treatment operations. Take steps to minimize unplanned downtime. Anticipate and solve problems. Identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Participate in developing policies and operating procedures, objective setting, plan development, and review of maintenance performance.

  • Communicate effectively with mine and other groups and to optimize production and ensure quality of product is maintained.

  • Manage and develop the expertise of supervisors and coordinators by reviewing work methods and results, providing advice and counsel and participating in their selection, evaluation, and training.

  • Build and mentor the processing team ensuring performance objectives and measures are developed and assessed with a focus on high technical standards and continuous improvement.

  • Develop a succession plan for roles within the team.


    REQUIREMENTS

  • Ten years progressively responsible relevant work experience, five of the years in a supervisory capacity-prefer experience in the mining industry.

  • Expert level knowledge of departmental management practices.

  • Effective written, verbal, and communication skills to satisfy training, safety, and electronic message transmission policies of the company.

  • Demonstrated computer skills in Windows environment with experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Current Driver's License.
