REGIONAL TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

THE ROLE 

The purpose of this role is to provide technical directions to substantially impact the quality and standards across mines. With exposure to a wide range of problems and real opportunity to help us shape the function, the role will provide local support for implementation of the operational technology projects with early focus on Underground Projects.

  • Provide technical safety and health support and information to mining maintenance and operations 

  • Work closely with staff in environmental, engineering, human resources, legal, operations, and maintenance 

  • Support local implementation of underground technology systems 

  • Execution leader, influencing technology and innovation to develop cutting edge capabilities in underground operational practice 

  • Analyze operational data to highlight opportunities and make recommendations 

  • Identify and develop best practice procedures for operation of Mine Operation Management systems 

  • Support the process of consultation with operations and relevant disciplines in Engineer and Geology on best practice, optimization, and appropriate execution of technology systems 

  • Liaise with site operations to support installation of hardware, fiber optic, AP, control room, etc. 

  • Manage the provision of specialized technical input through the engineering and planning process to optimize mine performance for the life of mines 

  • Understand, review and adjust activity within your responsibility, in compliance with Company policies and procedures, to deliver “physical” outcomes within budget/forecast operating and capital cost 

  • Promote and support the deployment of alternative mining activities and methods to step change the operating efficiency of the operation 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCES, & ABILITIES 

  • Proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity 

  • Advanced application of underground expertise to create value across the mining value chain, is a go-to person for advice on heavy machine automation within the mining discipline 

  • Drives improvement by challenging current practices and providing advice on the value optimized use of automation technology and processes in mining 

  • Applies a systematic, problem-solving approach and structured methodologies (such as root cause analysis and statistical analysis) to investigate risks and opportunities to create effective, value-add heavy underground solutions 

  • A demonstrated thought leader and considered an accomplished practitioner in the understanding and application of the Mine Engineering discipline 

  • Implementation of automated technology and systems 

  • Demonstrated project management capability through successful implementation 

  • Results driven achiever with exemplary planning and organization skills 

  • Strong communication and leadership skills 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • > 5 years experience in Underground Mining execution, supervisor and leadership 

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or an associated field (such as Civil or Mechanical Engineering) 

  • Experience in working to budgets and capital cost expectations 

  • Ability to engage at all employee levels, up to and including C-Suite
