SHORT TERM PLANNER

The Short-Term Planner is primarily responsible for the development of the Mine Operations and Support Team rolling operational plan. The Short-Term Planner is also responsible to develop daily and weekly plans, designs and schedules and to ensure that all the required designs are ready on a timely manner for the execution of the plan and aligned in such a way as to reduce departmental interactions in the mine and promote efficient work scheduling.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES AND DUTIES
Safety, Health & Environment:

  • Promote, lead, and demonstrate safe behaviors at all times

  • Comply with the site’s standards and procedures in SHEC

  • Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department/company standards

  • Demonstrate leadership in SHEC through personal behaviors and conversations and report all SHEC incidents and participate in SHEC initiatives

  • Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including self

  • Develop plans and schedules in consideration of statutory requirements

  • Awareness and understanding of operations related to standards including specific governance and local legislative requirements


Key technical outputs:

  • Developing the weekly (7+21) plan to achieve the Rolling 3-month plan (RoFo)

  • Generating drill and blast designs

  • Developing short terms level designs

  • Developing waste/back filling plans if required

  • Work closely with Mine Operations, Geology, Survey, Geotech and Mine Design when developing the mine plans and schedule

  • Undertaking regular Underground site visits to ensure that execution is compliant to the plan

  • Attend safety meetings and demonstrate safely leadership

  • Assist in development of SOPs and JSEA procedures

  • Work closely with senior mine planner to ensure that the 7+21 plan is complaint to the ROFO plan

  • Complete the weekly and daily compliance to plan and support the UG Mine Manager and Shift Boss in the reporting and meeting space

    REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS (formal certifications, etc.)

    Essential

    • Experience in Underground mine planning and scheduling

    Desirable

    • Tertiary Qualifications in a Mining Related Discipline

    • Experience in driving best practice through your department and into the business. 

    • Ability to understand functionality of business systems and extract relevant data for business purposes

    • Track record in driving continuous improvement

    • Preference for experience in Deswik
